چکیده

Following van Leer's MUSCL idea, a numerical scheme can be regarded as consisting of two key steps: a reconstruction step followed by a gas evolution step. We present a gas-kinetic method based on the collisional BGK model which provides an alternative to Riemann solvers for the gas evolution step. An advanced BGKscheme is derived under quite general assumptions on the initial conditions. The new formulation uses interpolation of the characteristic variables in the reconstruction step and a BGK-type flow solver in the gas evolution step. The scheme satisfies both an entropy condition and a positivity condition, which guarantees a positive density and temperature at the cell interface during a complete time step. Numerical results for one-dimensional and two-dimensional test cases are presented to show the accuracy and robustness of the proposed approach.

Numerical Investigation on Compressible Flow Characteristics in Axial Compressors Using a Multi Block Finite Volume Scheme

An unsteady two-dimensional numerical investigation was performed on the viscous flow passing through a multi-blade cascade. A Cartesian finite-volume approach was employed and it was linked to Van-Leer's and Roe's flux splitting schemes to evaluate inviscid flux terms. To prevent the oscillatory behavior of numerical results and to increase the accuracy, Monotonic Upstream Scheme for Conservat...

The numerical simulation of compressible flow in a Shubin nozzle using schemes of Bean-Warming and flux vector splitting

Over the last ten years, robustness of schemes has raised an increasing interest among the CFD community. The objective of this article is to solve the quasi-one-dimensional compressible flow inside a “Shubin nozzle” and to investigate Bean-Warming and flux vector splitting methods for numerical solution of compressible flows. Two different conditions have been considered: first, there is a sup...

Accelerating high-order WENO schemes using two heterogeneous GPUs

A double-GPU code is developed to accelerate WENO schemes. The test problem is a compressible viscous flow. The convective terms are discretized using third- to ninth-order WENO schemes and the viscous terms are discretized by the standard fourth-order central scheme. The code written in CUDA programming language is developed by modifying a single-GPU code. The OpenMP library is used for parall...

Discontinuous Galerkin BGK Method for Viscous Flow Equations: One-Dimensional Systems

This paper is about the construction of a BGK Navier–Stokes (BGK-NS) solver in the discontinuous Galerkin (DG) framework. Since in the DG formulation the conservative variables and their slopes can be updated simultaneously, the flow evolution in each element involves only the flow variables in the nearest neighboring cells. Instead of using the semidiscrete approach in the Runge–Kutta disconti...

Compound waves in a thermohydrodynamic lattice BGK scheme using non-perturbative equilibria

– A previously proposed thermohydrodynamic lattice BGK scheme using nonperturbative, or non-polynomial, equilibria is found to simulate continuum equations that differ from the Euler equations of gas dynamics at leading order. Shock tube simulations with this BGK scheme coincide with solutions obtained by solving these different continuum equations with conventional methods. Both sets of soluti...
